From observations to citizen science “Observational data collected by crowdsourcing are called citizen observations. They are observations made on the observer's own initiative and on a voluntary basis on various topics observable in the environment and they have been submitted for common use. Observations can be made either on an individual citizen’s own initiative or they can be activities jointly agreed by different associations or groups…  Various targets and environmental monitoring applications can also be agreed to be used for observation. In that case, crowdsourcing and voluntary work may also be extended to ensure a sufficient number of observations to verify the accuracy of the observations or to summarize the observations. When also ordinary citizens are involved in asking research questions and drawing conclusions from summaries of findings, it can be called citizen science. The UNESCO ASPnet Baltic Sea Project's WebQuiz 2019 is ready for students all over Baltic Sea region to participate! *The quiz is in English and meant for students from 13 to 19 years with good English skills. *Teachers may also take the quiz but should mark (*teacher) behind their name. *You need computer with headphones and video possibility, Inthernet, and some research skills to score in BSP WebQuiz 2019! *You have 60 minutes to answer 10 questions. *You can only take the test once because we will count your first entry. *The quiz can be found from here:   https://bit.ly/2PBXxgH *The quiz is open till 20.december. *The international prizes will be given out in January 2020. Co-operating through camps Drone picture on the coastline of the Baltic Sea, done by Enn Narrusson. You might wonder how Estonians celebrated the Baltic Sea Project's 30th birthday? We orginized a BSP international environmental awareness camp in Roosta, Estonia (26.-29.09.2019) and invited guest from other countries as well.  Here is a video done by the Polish delegation from Prywatna Szkoła Podstawowa Complex of Silesian International School (teacher Anna Stebel and students Wiktoria Stebel, Patrycja Makowska). This year the BSP got 30 years old, thus this camp focused on the Baltic Sea Project history (creating a common exhibition), Baltic Sea research and getting to know the costal situation and islands in Roosta (trip to Osmussaare island, costal hike, BSP programmes, scientific workshops), our cultural differences and similarities (culture nights) and providing leisure activities (sauna, ball games, swimming, adventure course, African drums). At UNESCO ASPnet and BSP schools  we have common objectives based on shared values  to promote sustainable development and lifestyles and to nourish intercultural learning and appreciation of cultural diversity and heritage.  These goals are global, but, from our perspective, they're need to be addressed especially acutely in the Baltic Sea area.
